The Story

In the spring of 1999, freelance designer and editor Erin Everett expressed frustration to her husband, Adam, about the free publications available in her area. “I know so many therapists in this area who are offering amazing healing methods, yet there’s no medium that showcases their talents. How can people find out about what they do?” Adam stopped what he was doing for a moment to listen. “If I published a magazine,” she said, “I would offer a forum for local people to discuss problems like the genetic engineering of food, to find out why to eat organic produce, and to be able to explore what different natural therapies are all about. That way readers could really make informed choices.”

She stopped and looked at her husband. He looked back. “What?” she asked.

“Do it,” he said. “Do it?” she repeated, her eyes widening. “Do it,” he stated again.

So she did it. By the end of that week, the website had been put together. In the Summer of 1999, the first issue of New Life Journal came off the press with a modest 5,000 print run and 12 hopeful pages. The magazine was very well-received, and since then, each issue has improved on the last, with more pages, a higher press run, tighter content, and more attractive layout.

Our website has grown and evolved into a community site where like-minded people in the Southeast can find out about area events, can ask questions of the experts who wrote articles in the current issue, can find out about products and services, and much more.

At each level of our growth, and as each issue hits the stands, we extend our thanks to our readers and advertisers. You are the ones who have supported us and made us a success!
